Grandeur Simplicity

I'm Shelby. A 21 year old event planning major from Rhode Island. I’ve been blogging and vlogging off and on since 2007. I’m a pretty simple person but I’m loud and I’m proud of my quirks. So I’ve always kind of lived my motto. The simplest things in life are the grandest.

Coral with a touch of Gold

I don’t often dabble in nail art but I wanted a little extra pop to these gorgeous coral nails today and I decided to add a gold accent. I really liked how it turned out too.

The nail polishes I used today are some pretty common ones from me and a new one. The main color is Love & Beauty’s Coral which I picked up for $2.80 at Forever 21. I used a little more than I usually have to with Love & Beauty. I think the Coral is a little thinner and not quite as creamy but I still love the color. The formula isn’t terrible. It’s pretty similar to some of Essie’s polishes. Speaking of Essie, both of the other two are Essie. They are Adore-a-Ball and As Gold as it Gets.

When I get new polishes, I really love to see how they pair with my old polishes. It’s not often that I only wear one polish on my nails. So when I picked up the coral polish, I thought of a few ways to wear it with the other polishes that I’ve brought on my trip. This was one of them. I almost used Shine of the Times instead but decided on the gold since I’ve already seen the pink with the gold.

This is about two coats of Coral. The first coat usually goes on really thin so if you usually do thin coats, you may need 3 coats of this. It doesn’t feel any thicker than normal polish when on the nails though. This is the exact coral color that I’ve been looking for. I’m obsessed with coral. And now that it’s so huge in season, I’m excited. This will one of my go to polishes until it’s empty.

As usual, my accent is on my ring finger. I did a freehand two coat corner with Adore-a-Ball and then I went over it with a coat of As Gold as it Gets. In some lighting it looks a little bit like rose gold. Otherwise it just looks like a strip of gold over a light pink. I think it looks great wither way though. At first I just had the pink but I decided it was a little too boring and over the coral it nearly blended into my skin. So I added the glitter for an extra pop. I think that I might try a few more things with nail art once I get home and have all of my polishes. They make me love my nails even more.
