Grandeur Simplicity

I'm Shelby. A 21 year old event planning major from Rhode Island. I’ve been blogging and vlogging off and on since 2007. I’m a pretty simple person but I’m loud and I’m proud of my quirks. So I’ve always kind of lived my motto. The simplest things in life are the grandest.

Local Style

I love representing my home state of Rhode Island, but being a small state we don’t have as many ways to represent us. We do however have our local style.

For those of you familiar with Alex and Ani, you may recognize the bangles and know that it was founded and is still based in Rhode Island. For those who don’t, you should really check it out. It isn’t a small business anymore. Today they were on the Today show because they’ve gotten the licensing to make official Olympics bangles. I just got my first one today from my Mom. I’ve been wanting ones forever but my first one just came into stock. Mine is the Shiny Gold Unicorn. I really like unicorns. The other three are some of my Mom’s that I’m borrowing. There’s a Russian Gold Shamrock, a Russian Silver Tree of Life and a Russian Silver Anchor. The anchor is one of the main symbols of Rhode Island and that particular bangle is one I hope to get. I’m sure it will mean a lot to me because I do love where I am from. Everyone has local things that they can represent with style. I’m sure every state has at least one major brand that was started there. There’s tons of other ways though. There are always local fashion companies and boutiques trying to get a running start and supporting them will help the rest of the world get to see their work. It would be such a shame if Alex and Ani had never gotten up and running. Representing home with your style helps small business and large ones alike. And it never hurts to feel at home wherever you go.
