Love & Nerdfighteria

Today is a big day for a lot of us internet nerds. It’s Esther Day!

Now if you don’t know about Esther, she was a part of the fanbase of the VlogBrothers youtube channel. Esther Earl was a great person who passed away two years ago due to cancer. Now the entire Nerdfighter community celebrates her birthday as she wanted. To tell everyone we love that we love them. It’s sometimes called the Valentine’s day for family and friends. If you search tumblr and youtube for Esther Earl or Esther Day you will find so many people that feel so many things about this day. It hits home a lot to me and many others. To me, this day isn’t just about love between people though. I have a deep love for being a nerd. I really only talk about it every once in a blue moon but I have and always will be a nerd. And a nerdfighter. I of course love my family and friends but I also do love my nerd things. Today, I’m celebrating being a nerd a little bit in honor of Esther. I’m rewatching a couple of my favorite episodes of my favorite show, Firefly. I’m probably going to laugh like crazy while I do. And I’m going to love. I know a lot of people who have issues with loving. Today is the day to push that aside though. This girl wished for one thing when asked how we should celebrate her birthday. She asked for love. Esther’s family does have a foundation in her honor that you can donate to. Or if you want you can buy one of her foundation’s wristbands. It’s hard to believe that I’ve had mine for two years.
